ALOVE-ly Greek Dish!

Saarah · October 1, 2018 ·

I always like to explore new things that are outside of my comfort zone, and cooking is no different. Exploring different options for recipes are what I’m known for. I usually have to modify a good percentage of them due to some of my food sensitivities; and one dish I’ve always wanted to make was a good old fashioned Greek meal! I’m Egyptian, so there is a lot of overlap with the Mediterranean foods, but the tastes differ slightly.

One of the dishes I’ve been dying to make is a lamb kabob, with a side of Greek salad and the infamous tzatziki sauce. I’ve never made either of them in my life, and wanted to take a chance to create something new. I ALSO stumbled across an awesomely different yogurt company (which I’ll be using as the base for the tzatziki sauce) called Alove. It is a yogurt that has aloe vera in it! Whaaa??

You can say that again, aloe vera. This yogurt uses the succulent parts of the aloe vera plant and places it inside a creamy, high quality milk product. Aloe vera has been known to be good for your insides, so why not add it in?

The yogurt comes in a few different flavors. We will be using the plain original aloe vera version for this recipe. The plain version is a little sweet, which will make this a sweet tzatziki sauce.

RECIPE:

2 containers of original aloe vera flavored Alove Yogurt

1 tbsp Himalayan sea salt

1 clove fresh garlic

1 tbsp lemon juice

10 tbsp white distilled vinegar

1 tbsp dill

Fresh mint

1 tsp avocado oil

½ tsp parsley

3 tbsp grated cucumber

Mix all ingredients very well. Add more salt to taste. Serve chilled.

This is what it looked like after I was done.

ENTER lamb kabob with an amazingly sweet Alove tzatziki sauce.
