Dress Your Nails With Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I’ve always wondered about the Sally Hanson Salon Effects nails and am happy that I had the opportunity to try them.  I’ve been an avid Sally Hanson user (mostly for their nail strengthening formulas and even some of their colors) but have been wanting to try the new Sally Hanson Salon Effects nails.  So here’s the scoop…

The package comes with a set of instructions, two sets of nail effects (one set for each hand), a nail file with three different coarseness parts to them, and a wooden cuticle tool.

The instructions will take you through what to do, but essentially you need to make sure that your nails are dry and clean of anything on the top of them.  I found that doing my nails after soaking them in warm water (or even just after the shower) really helps with the convenience of putting them on as they help to expand the nail bed.  So I took off my nail polish and had fresh, warmed up nails.

Then I started applying the nail strips.  This process did take me 45 minutes the first time around, which is similar to the time it would take to simply go into a salon and get a wet polish on your nails.  But I’m thinking the next time around will be a little bit quicker.

There was a little frustration on my end trying to get them on my nails without any bubbles…you have to make sure you start from the center and work your way outwards.  I had to use the nail file tool AND the cuticle tool to help remove the excess.  This was my finished product…

Overall I’d have to say that having these nails is fun and I like that there are so many designs to choose from.  It does save you the money from getting this air brushed on your nails, however I do feel that the price point of $9.99 should be decreased to at least the amount of money you pay on a bottle of nail polish.  I think these Salon Effects could be priced better at around $4.99 or $5.99.

As for the 10 days…I think that’s a little bit of a stretch.  After about 4 days some of them started chipping.  I’d say this realistically will last you about a week.  BUT its really convenient to have these, especially with the little ones running around, because you don’t have to worry about wrecked nails – they’re dry when you put them on!

I would definitely use this again, however only if I need to have a funky and cute design on my nails.
